This year, Karen Edward celebrates the 10th Anniversary of Funky Scottish!
In 2004, Karen created 'East Neuk', her first collection for Funky Scottish, a brand that has come to embody the founder and resident artist's independent, distinctive style.
During the 10 years since launching the studio, Karen has continued to create seminal collections which celebrate her love of the East Neuk, a beautiful corner of the east coast of Scotland. In particular, her vibrant, colourful, hand-painted ceramics have become synonymous with Funky Scottish, now a successful studio, gallery and boutique in Pittenweem. These eye-catching pieces have also given Karen Edward a unique place in the hearts and homes of fans across the East Neuk and far beyond.
Over the next few weeks - leading us towards the much anticipated Pittenweem Arts Festival - we'll be taking a closer look at the imaginative, original art of Karen Edward. In reverse, chronological order, we'll reveal the creative influences behind each classic collection.
Discover the elemental inspiration for Sea Pottery. Learn about the cultural history celebrated in the two tone ranges of Pittenweem Blue and Black & White. Enjoy the playful perspective showcased in the Puffins collection. Read the story behind Karen's first commission and the roots of her hugely successful Bespoke range.
Finally, we'll return to the very beginning with 'East Neuk', exploring the unmistakable style and iconic hallmarks - golden sun, red sock, washing lines, little houses, fishing boats, may island - of Karen Edward @ Funky Scottish.
We do hope you'll join us on this artistic adventure, back in time, through a Funky Scottish decade....
Also, join us this August for the Pittenweem Arts Festival. Karen Edward will host her 10th Anniversary exhibition in the Funky Scottish gallery. Find out more about this renowned annual event at pittenweemartsfestival.co.uk
